Introducing Silk Road Suppers!

Announcing the first stop on our Silk Road culinary journey with the cuisine of China!
Hosted by Lao Tze Chuan Restaurant on April 27

This is not your standard night out. Each supper is a highly elevated, one-of-a-kind experience featuring off-menu selections crafted specially for GastroSoul. You won't find these dishes on the regular menu—think intimate access, chef-driven creativity, and flavors that transport you across continents.

Each month, we will take over a different D.C. kitchen to explore a new stop along the Silk Road. One supper might transport you to an elegant Chinese imperial banquet, the next to a Persian garden, and the next to the table of an Indian maharaja—all through exclusive, multi-course feasts you can't get anywhere else.

Meet Marianne
Hello and Welcome! My name is Marianne Tshihamba. I have traveled to over 30 countries, collecting friends and recipes along the way.
My love of food and travel started as a child, having moved with my family to the US from Congo. Washington DC is my adoptive home and a perfect place to feed my foodie addiction.

What others are saying...

“My team at the Gates Foundation has been looking to reconnect after months of working from home. Marianne suggested we make a dish from Africa as a way of connecting with the cultures where we work even when we could not travel. We all had a great time and learned about the food and culture. Thanks.”
— Lee Pyne-Mercier
The Gates Foundation

“Marianne is amazing and knows her food! We cooked Thai dishes that she learned to cook on her travels there. Seems she travels for food a lot! She makes it seem so easy and fun to learn. Take her class. You will not be disappointed”
— Peter Stoutjesdijk
“ The friendliness and the wood was amazing. Marianne is telling you a story of flavor and tradition as she cooks"
— Vanessa
